A year ago..........

Today one year ago, 1 June 2016 I have my first cancer operation.

For the first time since writing this blog, I am stuck. Stuck, because so much has happened and I am struggling to put it into words that make sense.

This last year has been the most incredible experience. I am reflecting on the support I have had from close friends and family, as well as the help I have had from 'new' friends and I can honestly say, I feel so loved and supported. I have had so many ups and downs, tears, shouting, thinking, researching and lots of laughter, that I truly believe this has been the most amazing year of my life.  The many people I have met and what I have learned. It is true ' the more you know the less you know' .

I mentioned 'holistic' treatment a few weeks ago and even then, I did not really know what I meant and the real benefit. Nor did I know which way to turn. What am I talking about?

Before I go into the most amazing week last week, I want to talk about Jans son, Jan ( junior).  You will recall me writing about him before. In summary, Jan, 13 years old, was diagnosed just over a year ago today, with bone marrow cancer, a tumor in his back, as I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. What a journey.  Unlike me, Jan followed the hospitals recommendations and ended up having 14 Chemotherapy sessions. Shortly before the end of his chemo, the end of February,  he was sent for one final scan. The oncologist were positive and everyone was ready to celebrate.  Unfortunately, to  everyones shock, the cancer had not been cured, but was considerably worse in that Jan now had 9 cancer tumors. Nobody could believe it, and it reinforced my belief on Chemo. I firmly Chemo kills, even if not immediately!  Lets face it, if it cured, why do so many cancer patients die? I was so upset for Jans family.

This annual report provides the estimated numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in 2016, as well as current cancer incidence, mortality, and survival statistics and information on cancer symptoms, risk factors, early detection, and treatment. In 2016, there will be an estimated 1,685,210 new cancer cases diagnosed and 595,690 cancer deaths in the US.  ( source: https://www.cancer.org/research/cancer-facts-statistics/all-cancer-facts-figures/cancer-facts-figures-2016.html)
The hospital in Malaga was left scratching their heads and referred the case to Barcelona, who eventually came back with a suggestions of ‘trying another drug, to see if it helps’. Thank god, Jan decided to turn his back on the conventional medicine and the hospital.

He went to Northern Spain with his mum for a 21 day controlled fasting. That means 21 days of nothing but water. His mum joined in as well, so support him. At the time of him starting ,one of the tumors, which was just above his right eye, had grown to such extent that his eye lid was now closed and he was unable to see out of it. The cancer was literally spreading in front of our eyes. Half his forehead and his eyelid, were ‘taken over’ by the cancer tumor.

After 3 weeks of fasting, ( which interesting effects, such as green fluorescent urine which changed to all colours of the rainbow during his time there. A sign that he was getting rid of the many toxins in his body), the tumor actually stopped growing. A little later, started to dissolve and become smaller.
In addition since returning from Narvarra, Jan has taken up yoga and meditation and as unbelievable as it sounds, his blood results are excellent and the tumor is literally dissolving in front of our eyes.  I am so emotional every time I look at Jan. What a brave boy, how positive and it is applaudable to mention,  how brilliantly he has taken to the different alternative treatments.  I don
t know how Jan ( dad) and Gema ( mum) are holding it together, but I guess you just do, when you have to . They are now responsible for the recovery of their son and they will win. A recovery the hospital did not think was possible.

  1. I have been following your blog and have resisted commenting until now. I must say I take great offence to your derogatory comments regarding chemotherapy. I have a friend who too is battling breast cancer and has just endured many rounds of chemotherapy and reading something like this which states "chemo kills" does not help her frame of mind and I'm sure many others as well. I suspect you don't have any professional medical training ? So what do you base your findings on? I know many people who have successfully been treated with chemotherapy both recently and decades ago. It is the ONLY proven treatment against cancer as yet. Most people do not have riches which afford them anything other than the treatment which is offered on the NHS and for you to constantly state that it kills people is just ignorant.

  2. HI I have been following Anke post's and what she writes are her experiences - her believes as she been through much trial and error this last year. She believes it kills and has gone for alternative medicine. You on the other hand and your friend firtsly do not need to read her blogs and get upset and by all means go after what you believe works. Elonka

  4. Everyone battling cancer goes through a time of trial and error. I'm not saying that people shouldn't decide on which treatment they want (if they can afford to choose) what I'm saying is that just because one person decides on a treatment for them which hasn't been proven to work, it doesn't mean that the "proven" treatment is going to kill everyone who has it!! And I won't be reading the blog again, thank you

  5. Thank you for your comments, and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. To answer your question, I base my opinion on people I have met. People who have had chemo and people who have not. I don't believe that this has anything to do with 'if they can afford to choose'. I believe that everyone has a choice. Surely having a choice over ones own body, should be at the forefront of everyone's mind. Surely we owe it to ourselves / our bodies to research and not to blindly follow doctors advice? I would also add, that according to NHS predict, which seems to be the leading site for statistics, in my case, my survival without chemo is apparently 75%, yet if I would have chosen to have Chemo, then it would have increased only by 8%. The percentage for me, was not high enough to risk, my immune system to be destroyed. Looking at my friend's son Jan, who started with one cancer tumor last May, and after 14 chemo sessions ended up with 9 tumors, with the hospital now holding up their hands and admitting that they don't know what else to suggest, other then to 'try' another type of chemo, you might understand where I am coming from. But, each to their own, we all have a choice and I am very comfortable with mine. I would also add, the only reason, Chemo is the 'ONLY' proven treatment, is because the FDA will not accept any other statistics. If they did, it would change the statistics no doubt.

  7. I think you have hit the nail on the head there, everyone has a choice. It is just drilled in society today that what the doctor says is automatically assumed to be right. Most people wouldn't do their own research or even look into what other options there are out there having been recommended by professionals and as a result will go ahead with what they have been described or the route they are advised to go down. You are doing something that very few would do which is choosing something that you believe to be far more beneficial for your body. Not causing more harm!
Having followed your journey (and been a part of it) and read the evidence that you have found and continue to find, I wouldn't chose chemo either.
The affect legalising cannabis would have on the pharmaceutical industry would be huge. The amount of money Pharmaceutical companies make on promoting chemo and chemo related medicines means that Doctors and 'medical professionals' will continue to promote their products. After all, it is the pharmaceutical companies that pay their wages.............therefore these products will always be promoted and recommended. That is business at the end of the day.
    Good choice mama! X

  8. Thank you Kyla and thank you Lonka. I will do the fasting. I intend to start with a 'short fast' of 10 days in a couple of weeks and a longer one in August. X
